Tim Marcel, a seasoned and experienced local attorney and community leader, is a
candidate for Judge of the 29
th
Judicial District Court, Division "E." The election is
scheduled on Saturday, March 24, 2012 to replace Judge Robert A. Chaisson who was
elected to the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.
"I am running for judge because I am uniquely qualified due to my career of
involvement with legal and community organizations. As a strong believer in responsible
family values, I will put my experience to work to build a safer and better community for
all. I am committed to be independent, fair and impartial at all times for all people," said
Marcel.
Tim Marcel is very active in the St. Charles Parish legal and civic communities. Since
the early years of his legal career, Tim Marcel has been recognized for his legal abilities and
adherence to the highest ethical and professional standards. He is a member of the Louisiana
State Bar Association, St. Charles Parish Bar Association, a volunteer with the Lawyers
Assistance Program, a committee member of the Louisiana State Bar Association Alcohol
& Drug Abuse Committee. He was chosen by the judges of the 29
th
Judicial District to serve
as a volunteer board member of the 29
th
Judicial District Court Indigent Defender's Board.
Outside of the legal profession, Tim has been an active volunteer in many local
organizations including the Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Council on Aging
Advisory Council, Center for Family and Youth Services, United Way of St. Charles Parish,
Rotary Club of St. Charles Parish and the St. Charles Parish Community Education Program,
providing the public with assistance in drafting wills and successions.
"The role of a judge is that of a public servant charged with applying using the law
to serve the people and the community as a whole. Serving as judge is a solemn
responsibility to maintain the sacred trust between the court and the people it serves," says
Marcel. As Judge, Marcel vows to uphold the law and perform with fundamental fairness,
independence, impartiality, ethics and professionalism. These attributes have highlighted
Tim Marcel's legal career.
Tim and his wife, Sarah, have long called St. Charles Parish home. They live in
Destrehan with their eight year old twins, Hudson and Corinne, who attend New Sarpy
Elementary School.
Tim Marcel established his law firm on Paul Maillard Road in 1999. He has tried
cases in state and federal courts throughout Louisiana. He is the only candidate to have an
active civil and domestic practice, along with substantial criminal law experience. He is a
third generation attorney, and grandson of a former state district court judge and legal
author. Tim is a graduate of Nicholls State University and LSU Law School.
